Being far from home, I'm always on the lookout for good indian food. These are some of the restaurant that I know about and have eaten at in the past year an a half.
1. Madras Masala
South Indian, Mughlai, and Indo-Chinese. Lunch buffet

South Indian and tandoori cuisine with buffet option

*Shalimar does not have a variety of South Indian but Shalimar Cafe does.
7. Mysore Woodlands
Vegetarian south Indian cuisine. There isn't much seating here.

8. Earthen Jar
Vegetarian buffet. Mainly North Indian cuisine. Food is paid for by the pound.

9. Temptations in Ypsilanti
This is not really in Ann Arbor but a trip aboard Route 4 bus of TheRide and you'll get there in no time.

If you know of any more places, add them onto this thread. I've listed most of these restaurants as they are easy to get to for a student without any personal transportation options. A reference to the AATA bus route map and you can get to most of these places combined with a little walk.
